Snowdonia

If your idea of the perfect weekend away involves hiking in Europe, Snowdonia in Wales is your dream destination. This stunning mountain range is one of the most naturally gorgeous places in the United Kingdom and is woven through with excellent hikes, both for beginners and seasoned climbers.

This rugged landscape featured in the stories of King Arthur and the Welsh tradition of storytelling has kept these legends and mythologies alive.

Stratford Upon Avon

A peaceful and pretty town on the River Avon in Warwickshire, Stratford Upon Avon is famous for being the birthplace of one of the most famous Brits in history — William Shakespeare.

If you are a fan of the Bard you can see both his cradle (within his restored childhood home) and his grave (within Holy Trinity Church), as well as many other important sites such as the family cottage of Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare’s wife.

You can also see one of Shakespeare’s masterworks presented by the famous Royal Shakespeare Company, then treat yourself to a mouthwatering curry at the wonderful Avon Spice.

The Lake District

One of the most naturally beautiful regions in England, the Lake District is ideal for anyone who loves hiking, climbing or simply sitting with a cup of tea and soaking up the view. These lakes and hills were carved over millions of years by glacial erosion, creating a dramatic landscape that is a delight to explore.

When you tire of hiking along the huge network of footpaths, you can head to the town of Windermere (located on the shores of the lake of the same name). It has a range of charming little shops, cafes and pubs where you can rest your weary feet.
